PEAK HEALTH PRACTICES
FOOD
- Eat whole foods that are organically grown
- Eat regular meals and chew your food slowly and thoroughly
- Learn your metabolic type and follow a diet compatible with it
- Avoid coffee, black tea, colas and sodas, diet drinks and fruit juices
- Avoiding sugar is ESSENTIAL (learn how sugar is disguised in processed foods)
- Avoid artificial sweeteners (NutraSweet and Equal)
- Avoid chemical preservatives, food dyes and altered foods such as hydrogenated fats
WATER
- Drink spring water or filtered water only
- Avoid chlorinated tap water, distilled or softened water
- Drink water at room temperature and avoid ice water, especially at meals
- Limit water when you eat since it dilutes digestive juices
- Daily water intake of one quart for each 50 pounds of body weight
- Freshly juiced vegetable juice and green tea are acceptable
EXERCISE
Combine stretching, aerobics and weights for the best results. Do daily if possible and from 30 to 60 minutes. If you are sedentary, get guidance on a program
SLEEP
Essential to get adequate sleep, it is when our body repairs itself. If you do not get enough, get help. Daily sunlight exposure increases melatonin, the pineal glands’ hormone that promotes sleep. Sleeping in the dark increases melatonin.
SUNLIGHT
Sunlight exposure daily is healthy. Try for an hour a day. Sunlight on the retina without glasses or contacts is healthy. For seasonal affective disorder in winter, full spectrum lights one hour/day.
ELECTROMAGNETIC FIELDS
Avoid electric blankets, electric razors, waterbed heaters, battery-powered watches, and microwaves.
PHARMACEUTICAL DRUGS
Minimize, your liver must detoxify all of them. Be especially wary of antibiotics, birth control pills, synthetic estrogens and acid suppressing drugs.
AVOID
- Fluoride in water or toothpaste
- Dental amalgams and root canals
- Microwaved food and water
- Aluminum foil on food, in antacids, in antiperspirants, cookware
- Immunizations unless clearly indicated. I do not recommend the smallpox vaccine.
- X-rays and ionizing radiation unless absolutely necessary
