MIGRAINE TREATMENTS

Nutrition-decrease saturated fats and increase onion, garlic, fish oils and vegetable oils. Omega-3 oils (EPA and DHA) 12-14 grams daily in divided doses. GLA (gamma linolenic acid) as evening primrose oil 3-6 grams daily.

Beta-carotene 25,000 units daily. Vitamin C 1-2 grams daily. Vitamin E 400 units daily. Vitamin B-2 (riboflavin) 400 mg daily. IV injection of folic acid 15 mg during acute attacks. Magnesium 400-500 mg daily or 1 gram IV over 10 minutes during an acute attack. 5-hydroxytryptophan 300 mg twice daily.

Feverfew - .25 to .5 % parthenolide content daily. Dried ginger 500 mg four times daily

Homeopathy, TENS, aerobic exercise, acupuncture, massage, chiropractic

Biofeedback, relaxation exercise, meditation, hypnosis, Energetic healing (Reiki, Therapeutic Touch, Qi Gong, etc.)

Cognitive therapy and counseling on stress reduction.
